Welcome to Macaroni BABY, a very special edition

Issaquah, Sammamish, Snoqualmie, North Bend and Fall City

Congratulations!  It's a ... Macaroni BABY!  Diana and I are thrilled to announce the "birth" of a very special edition.  While it hasn't take us nine months to create (and thankfully we didn't gain any baby weight!), it has been a "labor of love" and we are certainly proud of it!

Preparing for a baby is one of the most exciting times in life.  Whether it's their first child or their fifth, parents always need help in preparing for the big day, and the weeks after the little one's arrival.

Macaroni BABY is a compilation of local businesses which offer services and/or products related to pregnancy, parenting, and babies.  Our guide is by-no-means all-inclusive, but it is a representation of some of the best local baby businesses out there!

This wonderful resource is meant especially for expectant and new parents.  However, if your family is complete, it is also for those of us looking for the best ways to support friends who are having babies.

Macaroni BABY provides important insights from experts, inside scoop on local resources, unique baby shower gift ideas, giveaways, and so much more!

Rebecca Michi - Children's Sleep Specialist

As a children’s sleep specialist, newborn sleep is something I am asked about many times. Although I help parents sleep train their children (all the way up to 6 year olds), I don’t advise sleep training a newborn. The first three months are the fourth trimester and I advise parents to do whatever they can to get as much sleep as they can!

Having said that, there is quite a lot we can be doing to encourage wonderful sleep habits. Below are a few of my favorite sleep ...

Jen Orbistondo Photography - Newborn Photos

Dana here.  Mom of two adorable little girls. I am going to speak from experience (and a bit of regret).  I did not have maternity or newborn photos taken of my firstborn.  I got lost in the haze of new mommyhood and just never got around to capturing those precious memories - professionally.  I was more concerned with taking a nap than having a picture taken.  I did not make that mistake the second time around.  And I tell every new mom to take the time, spend the money, get baby ...

Impact Parenting - Preparing for a Sibling

Preparing for a new baby and how to help your older child embrace their new sibling:

The bottom line to this process is shared control. For the older child he or she did not ask for this change nor did they have any control around the decision. There are two primary emotional needs influencing this situation:
  1. Connection
  2. Control
These two things are major fuel for ALL of us ALL the time. So when a child experiences something they cannot control, they power struggle to get back the control. What is ...

Picky Sticky - Milestone Onesie Stickers

Tips for Great Baby Pictures

Many times trying to get the best baby photo is a challenge.  They wiggle, frown, turn upside down, and often just aren't interested in being still and cooperating with us.  We've found a few ways to get great baby photos of your little ones.

1 - Make sure all the prep work is done.  Ensure that there is a good backdrop.  A solid neutral tone in the background works well as this doesn't take too much attention off of the baby.  Also ensure that the baby has been ...

HAPPYFAMILY - Nutrition for Babies & GIVEAWAY

Being a first time parent will be the most exciting time in your life and it can also be the most challenging. When it comes to raising children there are so many things to think about and decisions to make. Sometimes you cannot always get your answers from books or family and friends. You will learn a lot through trial and error and what works best for you and your family.

When it is time to introduce solids to your little ones HAPPYFAMILY is an easy decision. We are committed ...

Paint That Cute! - Personalized Nursery Decor

If your baby’s nursery is missing a little something, or your child’s room lacks just the right décor, you’re in luck! Paint That Cute will craft a totally adorable and made-to –order set of hand-painted wooden wall letters to spell out your child’s name – and they’ll be a perfect match for their room! It’s the cutest way to personalize your little one’s sleeping space or play room.

Gina Cohen, a longtime Issaquah resident and proud single mom of two, is the artist ...

It's A Preemie Thing - The Preemie Connection

Nobody goes into a pregnancy expecting to give birth to a premature baby.  You have that perfect vision in your head how the day will unfold, how they will hand your baby over to you right after birth, a bond is instantly formed and your life as a mom begins (or has been added to).  For all of you, I hope those visions happen!

Unfortunately, life sometimes throws us a curve ball and it never hurts to be prepared.   If you know someone that has recently had a “preemie” then ...

Music & Babies - The Musik Nest

What's the first thing you think of when you hear the word "baby"?

Diapers?  Crying?  Drool?  Yeah, pretty much can't have a baby without those things.

I'm willing to bet that "music" didn't make your list.  Well, it didn't make mine either until my youngest and I started taking classes with Miss Rebecca at The Musik Nest.

Come to find out that babies and music go together like ... "peas and carrots", milk and cookies, macaroni and cheese, ... you get the idea, right?!

There is a ...

Caspar BABYpants - CD Giveaway

How could we call this a special BABY edition of our newsletter without including Caspar BABYpants?!

I love music and typically listen to a variety of songs all day long. After having my firstborn, I went on a mission to find baby-friendly tunes that I could actually enjoy. I didn't need to be driven crazy with annoying kids songs.  And I didn't need to feel guilty about exposing my young one to music with questionable lyrics.

Thankfully, I found Caspar Babypants!  I've been a fan (borderline groupie ...
