Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Our Website Will be Sporting a Pink Ribbon!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, and cure.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, there will be a small, subtle pink ribbon in the top right corner of Snoqualmie Valley Macaroni Kid’s website throughout the entire month of October. It is there to support this very important cause and to remind our readers to do self breast exams and, if ...

Isagenix: World Leader in Nutritional Cleansing

by Diana

When my sister-in-law told me about the Isagenix Nutritional Cleansing program, I was a bit skeptical.  I have never had any interest in trying traditional cleanses, but after doing some research, this program sounded different.

I was given a 9-day program to test out and I really loved it.  I’m not going to lie, there were some tough days, but then again it took me two days to realize I shouldn’t be doing boot camp-type exercise on my cleansing days.  Once I learned some of the secrets, like ...

Kumon is Like Little League, Hand in Glove

Written by Cindy McVay, M.Ed., Kumon Math and Reading Center

We sign our kids up for Little League when they're in pre-school not because we think they're going to go pro or even get a college scholarship, although it would be nice, but we sign our kids up for Little League because of the life skills learned along the way.   We want our kids to leave the house each morning or get up to bat with a strong stance, intensity, determination, confidence...

My son has strong verbal skills and a high aptitude for math, but I do not ...

Macaroni Kid Weekly Message

from Diana & Dana, MK Publisher Moms

This weekend our local area pulls out all the stops to welcome home the salmon.  The salmon who have been swimming against strong currents, hundreds of miles upstream, arriving in shallow streams to spawn. Thus securing the salmon population.  It’s an amazing thing!

Just in case you're wondering or anticipate your kids asking, “Why do salmon swim upstream?”  A quick Internet searched revealed this simple answer: It’s what they are meant to do.  They are genetically programmed to get back to the same place they were born to spawn and lay their eggs.

More importantly, what are YOU meant to do in the midst of the 40th Annual Salmon Days Festival?  No upstream swimming for you. You are meant to enjoy FREE FAMILY FUN!  Start with the Grande Parade on Saturday morning and/or the Rotary Club Issaquah Run on Sunday.  Be sure to allow plenty of time for frolicking at the Field of Fun - every child’s dream, shopping local artists, trying delicious food, listening to live entertainment, and witnessing the salmon "do their thing"...  there's something for everyone!

Wishing you a FISH-tastic weekend,

~ Diana ([email protected]) & Dana ([email protected])

National Costume Swap Day

Macaroni Kid Event in partnership with Small Threads & Adventure Kids

Halloween comes just once a year.  As a result Halloween costumes, well, they get worn one time … maybe twice if there’s a younger sibling willing to wear it another year.  Chances are, your costumes are still in good enough shape to be passed along to another child.  From that simple idea, every kid’s favorite holiday just got more parent- and planet-friendly, thanks to the launch of National Costume Swap Day

Snoqualmie Valley Macaroni Kid is partnering with local businesses Small Threads and Adventure Kids Playcare to bring this ...
