Hard to Get Your Kids to Eat Their Veggies?
Juice Plus Can Help!
It’s a discussion we have everyday in our house….”How did the kids eat today?”
The majority of us face the same dilemmas each day when it comes to healthy eating.
Prior to becoming a mom, I was working as a registered dietitian. I spent many years educating parents on infant, toddler and child nutrition. And I knew when I had children the information and feedback from my clients would be so valuable.
Now with my three children, ages 4, 3 and 19 months, I’ve been able to ...
Kristen's recipe
by Kristen Schumacher, Professional Chef and Mom
Chunky Chicken Chili
The way this chili mixes sweet and spice is appealing to kids…and will keep you warm on these wet autumn days.
1 Medium white onion, chopped
1 Red pepper, chopped
1 Yellow pepper, chopped
1 Jalapeño, chopped, (seeds discarded, unless you want lots of hot spice!!)
5 cloves garlic, minced
2 Tablespoons olive oil
4 Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 Tablespoons chili powder
2 Tablespoons ground cumin
½ Tsp dried oregano
½ Tsp kosher salt & pepper each
1 Cup water (used reserved water from boiling chicken)

Lifelong Learning
Written by Cindy McVay, M.Ed., Kumon Math and Reading Center
Lifelong learning. What does that mean? It’s a good question.
Lifelong learning is both a mindset and a lifestyle. It requires a continuous engagement in acquiring and applying knowledge and skills toward self-directed growth and personal challenge. That’s a fancy way of saying that lifelong learning is a journey. A child enrolled in Kumon will be introduced early on to how valuable daily exercises and practice – lots of practice – will be to his or her education.
One of the central pillars of Kumon’s philosophy is daily learning ...
Macaroni Kid Weekly Message
from Diana & Dana, MK Publisher Moms
Here we are zooming right into the middle of October! Fall is officially here - the leaves are changing and falling ... and being collected by my curious three year old - she has an entire bucket filled with leaves of every color and size! That overflowing bucket reminds me of the exhaustive list of events Diana and I have posted for you this week. To help you manage all those events, we want to make sure you know about our NEW calendar feature as well as the My Macaroni function. Both are terrific time-savers when it comes to planning ways to entertain, stimulate, and exhaust your kids!
The new calendar feature is an idea that came straight from our subscribers. Look at the top of our website for the calendar button or CLICK HERE to see it. If you don't like to scroll through the events in the newsletter, then you'll LOVE this new feature. If you want to see what is going on in our area on a specific day of the week, then you'll wonder how you ever managed without the MK calendar. We are still working to make the calendar as user-friendly as possible, please email us with feedback and suggestions. To use the My Macaroni function, simply click the "+ to my macaroni" button under each event and it saves all of your events of interest in one handy little place here on the site (click the "My Macaroni" button to view). You can even download Your Macaroni as a PDF document or print it out to hang on your fridge or toss in your purse. Never miss an event again with My Macaroni!
One event you definitely don't want to miss is the Creme Brulee kids consignment sale! It's this weekend (October 15-16) at the Pickering Barn in Issaquah. You'll find thousands of name brand items all organized in one place ... and at great prices! This unique sale includes the Sassy Mei Boutique show and free, on-site childcare. The Creme Brulee kids consignment sale is the best place to find wonderful resale clothing and fabulous Boutique items for babies and kids!
And, finally, we want to take this opportunity to thank Green Halloween®, Small Threads, and Adventure Kids Playcare for helping to make our 1st Annual Costume Swap Day a huge success! More than 40 local families started a new tradition and swapped costumes! Thank you for support this important effort - small changes make a big difference, and that is an great lesson to teach our children! We are looking forward to an even bigger and better swap next year; if you have feedback, please send us an email.
Wishing you a fun-filled week,
~ Diana ([email protected]) & Dana ([email protected])

SUBSCRIBER CONTEST - Picky Sticky
Amazing Idea for a Baby Shower Gift
About a month ago I was at our friends son's first birthday party. I walked in and immediately noticed this amazing collage of photos they had on display. There were eleven photos in the frame, each with a cute photo of their son...they were waiting to print photo number twelve.
So, what made these photos so unique? Each photo was of their son in a white onesie, but each one had a new, adorable sticker on the onesie, that said "1" "2" "3"...well, you get the picture. It's so much better than a piece of paper with the words "1 month" on them!
This is such a great way to document the first year of your little ones life! And such a unique baby shower gift!!!
Not only do they have first year stickers for boys and girls, they have unisex ones too. They also have a wide selection of year stickers, belly stickers (for the expectant mother), and even second year stickers.
Are you ready to win? Trish from Picky Sticky would like to give one of our subscribers their pick of any set they would like!
If you would like to enter this contest CLICK HERE. The contest will go from October 14 - October 24. Winner will be notified via email and will get to pick any Picky Sticky they wish from the sets. Winner must be a subscriber to win!!!
CLICK HERE for more info on Picky Sticky...and enjoy!!!
