Don’t Miss the First-Ever CHOMP Festival September 13th

Learn. Grow. Live. Share. PLAY! - at this FREE event at Marymoor Park in Redmond

September 3, 2015
Celebrate all that is fresh, delicious, local and sustainable at CHOMP!, on Sunday, September 13th from 10am - 6pm at King County’s Marymoor Park in Redmond. CHOMP is King County’s first ever local food and sustainable living festival and it will be a day full of interesting and unique experiences for the whole family.

Here’s just a sample of what’s in store …

At the Discover Chomplandia scavenger hunt, you'll be looking for people. Guides, in fact, who can introduce you to the water, soil, animals and plants of Marymoor and its old Willowmoor Farm. Whether you're seeking the Old Man in the Slough, planting a winter salad, or spotting birds of Marymoor Park, you'll walk away with a new perspective on your surroundings and new ways to look at your own landscape.

Chomp’s Pea Patch Zone will be a wonderland created entirely for kids. In the Pea Patch kids can take part in a number of activities that will let them create, play, learn and grow. There will be Springfree Trampolines, bubbles, performers, and crafts for children of all ages.

Whether you bring your bike or not (and we hope you do!), you can be part of the Bike Rodeo two-wheeled experience. Get your bike fixed at Bike Works' BikeMobile; ride the bike rodeo (ages 8-12, bikes provided); decorate your ride; check out the wares of bike-related vendors; and more!

Did you ever wonder what it feels like to be a farmer? Well, now the whole family can be a Farmer for a Day: work a wheelbarrow, pitch some hay, and perform other feats of strength and cunning. You'll also get to meet some farmers and learn more about what it takes to produce our local food.

At Community Kitchen + Beats, you’ll watch and learn from some of King County’s top chefs as they prepare delectable bites, to a backdrop of tasty DJ beats. The chefs will describe what they do so you can try it at home. Nearby, learn hands-on skills such as kale massage, and pick up home-kitchen tips from community organizations.

Throughout the day will also be live music from some of the local area’s best independent music community, plus an entire stage devoted to ethnic music and dance from India, Brazil, the Balkans and more.  Parents will enjoy the local wine & beer tent and if you’re able to still snag tickets (and book a babysitter!), CHOMP is hosting a Farm-to-Table Dinner on Saturday, September 12th featuring local chefs and farm fresh ingredients.  Find out more and purchase tickets here.
