Sorella Salon’s Top 4 Holiday Looks

Holiday parties and events are the perfect opportunity to get dressed up here in the Northwest (and you know those opportunities are few and far between). Recently, we caught up with Jacquelynn Reasy Woodward, co-owner of Issaquah’s Sorella Salon & Spa, for her take on this season’s hottest holiday looks. Sorella is the Eastside’s go-to resource for beautiful hair, and it’s no surprise that 425 Magazine works with Sorella to style its fashion features.

If there’s a special invitation on your calendar, Jacquelynn suggests one of these on-trend options for holiday hair:

1. Iron Set
Think of iron set as a polished, soft curl that looks relaxed. This look begins with a blowout that’s then curled loosely – using a curling iron. Here’s a snapshot from the salon that illustrates this gorgeous look.

2. Braids
Perfect for a gala or black tie event, braids are timeless and elegant. There are many ways to style braids, including narrow French braids. Hair can be half-up or pinned up with a bun. A French braid with the bottom piece pinned up and under is a gorgeous style for a black tie event.

3. Bun or Chignon
Chignon is the French term for bun, and it’s the ultimate in elegance. A few loose tendrils add a soft touch to a chignon, which can be tousled or dramatically high. This is a memorable style that enhances your neckline, as well as any detail on the shoulders of your top or dress.

4. Blowout
Professionally-styled hair has a shine and polish that lasts for days.

Not sure which look is right for you? A Sorella stylist can help you find the perfect solution for your hair’s length and texture.

According to Jacquelynn, this year’s holiday makeup looks focus on contrast, such as dark eyes and pale lips, or vice versa. Offsetting a strong, dark lip with natural eyes creates a stunning look. Also hot in makeup this holiday season are red lips (think almost burnt red) with smoky black eyes, and strobing, luminous makeup that shimmers, giving a dewy appearance.

If getting ready for a special event is a challenge at your house (where you may run the risk of getting slimed and starting out the night frazzled), Jacquelynn offers a solution: Get dressed at Sorella. The salon has a staging room where you can get dressed and do makeup after having your hair done. Ask the sitter to come early, get ready at Sorella, then head straight to your party. Doesn’t that sound like a slice of holiday heaven?

Added bonus: Sorella Salon is locally-owned and operated by the Reasy family – sisters Jamie, Jessie, Jacquelynn and their mom, Peggy.
