Dream Big with Macaroni Kid

Cinderella contends that "a dream is a wish your heart makes when you're fast asleep."  Perhaps it has something to do with lack of sleep, but I find dreams made when you're wide awake to be much more powerful.

It seems John Lennon agreed with me when he said, "A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality."  This weekend's big game has local football fans dreaming of victory for the Seattle Seahawks; here's hoping our collective dreams will make the Super Bowl a reality!

We all know that Martin Luther King had a dream and that dream changed the course of American history.

On Monday local kids are out of school as we honor his life and vision and reinforce Walt Disney's message that, "If you can dream it, you can do it."  When it comes to dreaming big, kids are ready, willing, and able! They don't see limits or restrictions.  They know that anything is possible.  Dreams are their reality.  It is our job to nourish that vision and dream right along with them.

In fact there are two local kids who not only dream of helping the homeless but also are hosting events to support their cause.  We hope you'll support their endeavors!
As part of a school project in honor of the work of Martin Luther King, Jack is organizing a donation drive on behalf of SnoValley Homeless Teen Action Group.  You can find him at Centennial Fields in Snoqualmie on Saturday, January 14  from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Find more details included which items are most needed at the Facebook event page.

For the third year, Tanner is hosting his Bags O'Love project - a day to assemble and deliver Ziploc Bags of goodies for the Homeless in Seattle.  He has set a personal goal for 100 bags and needs both donations and volunteers to help assemble the bags.  Find out  more at the Facebook event page.

Dreams can also be inspired by a need and become a shared mission as is the case with Plateaupians for Peace, a local organization promoting a united, supportive, and inclusive community and YOU can get involved - please take a few minutes to read about how your neighbors are coming together at a time when we need it most.

If it's a comprehensive list of truly local family events you're dreaming of, we've got that plus so much more:

Wishing you a fun-filled week ahead!
