A local mom and her MoxTree

a new social media platform changing the way moms connect

July 19, 2012
In the five years since becoming a mom, I have met other moms at the park, in line at Starbucks, through a local moms' group, in the parking lot at Costco, ... all by chance.  Conversations were sparked by the simple fact that we both had children with us, by the need for adult interaction.  Phone numbers were exchanged and play dates planned in the hope that our commonalities exceed giving birth.

While I've met many nice fellow mothers this way - even made some good friends - I think local mom Victoria
Oldridge has a better way!  It's called MoxTree, a new social media platform changing the way moms connect!  MoxTree focuses on the entire modern mom; "having a child is a great starting point in making connections but as modern women we also have other goals and interests and should be connecting based up on the 'entire' woman."

I love that MoxTree is the brainchild of a local mom - someone I could've chatted with by chance at a local playground.  She's the mom of two little ones and a woman on a mission to bring moms social media that works for them.

The MoxTree site just launched yesterday and provides a user-friendly platform where you can find like-minded moms locally and beyond.  To get started, register with the site and create a profile (it can even be linked to Facebook) that includes basic information as well as specifics like hobbies/interests - anything from cooking/baking to philanthropy, professional networking, and fashion.  And then create search settings for the types of mom you'd like to connect with based on distance, age, etc.  You'll be instantly matched with moms based on your criteria.  From there you can view profiles and send messages.

As a way to find local moms with shared interests, MoxTree has the potential to be a powerful social media tool.  I, for one, am excited to watch this tree grow!
