Family-friendly Local Happenings from Macaroni Kid

Issaquah, Sammamish, Snoqualmie, North Bend and Fall City

October 4, 2012
My family was Boo'd this week.  If you haven't been Boo'd, you are missing out on a fun Halloween tradition. This is such a great way to start off the fall season and have fun with your neighbors and friends.

There are different ways to Boo people, but the basics are the same and you can do it very easily and inexpensively!

Step #1: Put together a goodie-basket of Halloween treats.  I recommend checking out the dollar bin at Target where you'll find very festive items - cute buckets, pencils, erasers, candy, glow bracelets, Halloween decals, socks and more.

Step #2: Create your own Boo poem or you can use this one.  And create a ghost for people to hang on their front door/window, so other people know they have been boo'd (you will include both of these items in your goodie-basket to them).  Here is a sample that you can print.

Step #3: Sneak up to your neighbor's house, ring the doorbell, leave the goodies and run!

It's that easy!  And then they do the same for another neighbor or two and so on and so on.  It's fun to see the Halloween cheer spread from house to house!

One last thing, and you totally don't have to do this, but I usually do. I let the parents know that we boo'd them (or that we are going to boo them), just so they know where it came from.  In this world, I guess you can never be too careful, especially if you include candy in the goodie-basket!
