REgarding Peanut

By October 21, 2010

"Necessity is the mother of invention."  And I am guessing few people understand this better than mothers!  One such local mom had a need for babywearing options beyond the Bjorn, did a lot of research, and consequently started her own business.  REgarding Peanut,  named after her firstborn, is Katy Afruma's attempt to help you "evolve into a stylish, functional parent."

Because of my own little peanut (my 10-month old weighs just over 13 pounds), I have been struggling to find a carrier that works for a little baby who is no longer an infant.  With a three year old to chase after, a good carrier is a necessity for me. I did some research online and chatted with other moms (mainly at the park) about carriers.  I got so many different recommendations, however, no one really had my exact "problem."

Finally, one of those park conversations paid off (thanks, Janet!) and led me to the REgarding Peanut website.  I am a sucker for a cute name and logo, so really it was “love at first click” for me.  The site is easy to navigate and not overwhelming.  Within minutes I found great carrier options with descriptions obviously written by a mom who has used the products.   In fact, this quote on the homepage pretty much says it all, "Our store is all about functional products that not only look great, but work really well too. We don't carry anything that we haven't used (or wish we'd had when our daughter was tiny)."

Katy, the mama behind REgarding Peanut, also offers local parents the option to “try before you buy.”  This service is far beyond a trip to the carrier dressing room.  It’s like having your carrier tailored for your body and baby.  It’s part parent education - this mama really knows her stuff - and part playdate - our daughters are about the same age and shared toys during the appointment.  Not only is Katy knowledgeable about babywearing but she’s also patient and kind and truly interested in making sure her customers get the best carrier.  I left feeling confident in my choice  (the Pikkolo byCatbirdBaby) and my ability to wear my baby in a carrier that fits us both comfortably.

Although I am not in the market for cloth diapers, REgarding Peanut also carries a nice selection of diapers, inserts, and accessories.  If you’re looking for the best swaddling blankets (based on my personal experience), check out the Aden+Anais 4-packs under the Snuggling category.  About once a month, Katy sends out an email with the latest on babywearing and local open house events; get on her list.

For all of these reasons, Macaroni Kid is delighted to introduce our local families to REgarding Peanut, our newest sponsor.   Check out the Facebook page, too.

Event Alert: REgarding Peanut (babywearing expert) and Mothering Grace (diapering expert) are hosting an open house event on November 6th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.  A chance to meet Katy and to check out cloth diapers, baby carriers/slings, and more.  Location: 19515 SE 277th Street |  Kent, WA.  Experienced mamas and great baby products - all in one place - I’d consider this “worth the drive.”
