2014 Season of Giving

Local organizations need your help to make the holidays truly special for everyone!

While you are out shopping this holiday season, may we suggest that you pick up a few extra coats, toys, and gifts for these local charities:

Caring through Sharing - Holiday Gift Program
The Caring through Sharing Program is a holiday gift program for Issaquah School District children ages birth-18.  This year Pickering Barn will become a department store for clients to do their holiday shopping. 
WHAT: Help fill the store with donations - click here to see gift ideas! 
WHEN: Donation drop-off and set-up is Monday and Tuesday, December 8 and 9 from 1pm-7 pm.
WHERE: at the Pickering Barn (1730 10th Ave. NW, Issaquah, WA 98027). There is no storage at the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank; please bring gifts to the Pickering Barn on the drop off days only.

Eastside Baby Corner
"Eastside Baby Corner makes a positive difference in the lives of children and families in need by collecting and purchasing children’s items and distributing them, free of charge, through local service care providers."
WHERE/WHEN: Eastside Baby Corner warehouse located at 1510 NW Maple Street: Monday  5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, Thursday 9:00am to 11am, and Saturday 9:00 am to 12:00 noon 
Issaquah Highlands Self Storage with convenient drop-off hours: Sunday-Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
WHAT: Gently-used or new clothing and shoes for children, sizes newborn to 14
Small toys, 11x17 inches or less in diameter, gently-used or new, and packaged disposable diapers

Sammamish Police and Toys 4 Tots
As part of the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program contribute a new toy {or two or three} for a needy child.
WHERE: Sammamish Police Department at City Hall, 801 228th Avenue SE.   
WHAT: Bring a new, unwrapped gift and drop it in the collection bin just outside the police station office in City Hall.
WHEN: Donations will be accepted until December 10. 

Toy ‘N’ Joy
Bartells is partnering with the Salvation Army for the “Toy ‘n’ Joy” Giving Tree Drive. New and unwrapped toys will be distributed to thousands of underprivileged kids throughout the Puget Sound. 
WHAT: Drop off new, unwrapped toys appropriate for children up to 14 years old at your neighborhood Bartells. All toys collected will be distributed the week before Christmas through Salvation Army’s toy warehouses. 
WHEN: Now through Friday, December 12

Sleep Country Toy Drive for Foster Kids
The holiday season should be magical for all children. But for Northwest foster children, the holidays can be a difficult and lonely time. To help make the season a little brighter, Sleep Country is collecting holiday gifts for local foster kids of all ages. Bring your donation of a new, unwrapped toy, game, book or movie to any Sleep Country location, and become a Secret Santa for a foster child today!
WHEN: Now through Dec. 14th new, unwrapped toys can be dropped off for children of all ages at any Sleep Country - Monday through Friday 10-9, Saturday 10-8, and Sunday 10-7. 
WHERE: The Issaquah store is located at 730 NW Gilman Blvd.

One VOICE (Valley Organizations in Collective Effort) 
One VOICE is launching a drive to collect items for a December holiday event for individuals and families in need in the Snoqualmie Valley.  
WHAT: Winter items that are being collected by participating One VOICE organizations and businesses include:
  • Gingerbread house kits
  • New unwrapped toys for Kiwanis Giving Tree
  • Toilet paper and personal hygiene items
  • New and gently used winter clothing– for people of all ages 
  • New and gently used closed toe shoes– for people of all ages 
  • New hats, stocking caps, gloves and mittens
  • Dental products
  • Diapers and wipes
  • Non-perishable food for Mt. Si Food Bank
  • New and gently  
WHEN:  9am to 4pm weekdays through December 10, 2014
WHERE:  Encompass Main Campus, 1407 Boalch Ave. N.W. North Bend; Peak Sports and Spine, 7725 Center Blvd. S.E., Suite 220, Snoqualmie; Chaplin’s Chevrolet, 106 Main Ave. N., North Bend; Kevin Hauglie Agency, 33410 S.E. HOW: 
Families in need can register to participate in the One Voice program by signing up 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 26 or Dec. 3 at the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank, 122 E. Third St., North Bend.

YMCA/Kiwanis Giving Tree and Toilet Paper Drive 
WHAT: Join the YMCA and Kiwanis in our annual Giving Tree toilet paper drive event! Bring in new, unwrapped toys and toilet paper to be distributed to local families in need. 
WHEN: Now through December 9th during business hours.
WHERE: Snoqualmie Valley YMCA on Snoqualmie Ridge

Fill-the-Truck for Foodball
WHAT: Mount Si High School ASB will be holding their annual Fill-the-Truck events to raise cash and food for our local food banks.  Their goal this year is 15,000 lbs!  Many local SVSD schools are collecting food for this campaign also, so feel free to bring donations to your local school or Mount Si High School at anytime.  
WHEN: December 13th from 9-5 p.m.

Mt Si Golf Course Food & Toy Drive
WHAT: Donate a non-perishable food items from now until March 13th, 2015 and they will give you an additional $2 off your round of golf from our already low winter rates.  All the food donations go to the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank. 
WHEN: now until March 13th, 2015.

Holiday Food Drive at City Hall
WHAT: Please support our local food banks by donating non-perishable items. Let's band together as a community to fight hunger and give hope!
WHEN: now through December 10th.
