The Scoop on Local Ice Cream & FroYo Places

Issaquah, Sammamish, Fall City, Snoqualmie, North Bend

July 7, 2016
You can't get through the summer with at least a few trips to get sweet frozen treats in our area. Cups, cones, sundaes, or frozen yogurt with all the toppings - with the help of our Facebook audience, we've got the scoop on a grand total of 25 ice cream places you'll love to visit this summer!

Let's start with our 2016 Gold Daisy Winner because local parents seem to agree and voted in big numbers to support Ben & Jerry's - at 1011 NE High Street in Issaquah - as the Most Loved Ice Cream Place.  Local mom, Christine Stevens says, "We like Ben and Jerry's in Issaquah Highlands. They have a dairy free flavor that my husband loves. It's so hard to find a scooped ice cream that is dairy free and not sorbet. This location frequently has fundraisers that gives a percentage of their daily proceeds to charity. It's a delicious way to give back to the community!"

This also seems like the perfect time to mention The Swirl - Frozen Yogurt with a Twist located at 426 Main Ave S in North Bend. The Swirl has been our Gold Daisy runner-up for two years in a row. It's locally owned and operated and offers a wide selection of flavors and toppings!

and the three other Gold Daisy Finalists ...

This is a favorite among residents of the Issaquah Highlands because of it's convenient location.  If you're looking for an excuse to try it, I suggest a trip to Summit Park with a stop by TCBY after!

U-Swirl & Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory | 100 Front St S | Issaquah
Local mom Laura Gaffney recently visited U-Swirl for first time in and commented that she was, "favorably impressed with the seating, free wifi, magazines, and the kids loved the yogurt and toppings!"

Scooped ice cream can be enjoyed at Baskin Robbins with locations in both Issaquah (1590 NW Gilman Blvd) and North Bend (458 SW Mt Si Blvd) or Cold Stone Creamery near Fred Meyer in Issaquah.

A few local restaurants make our list for their ice cream options ...

Fall City is the place to grab a burger and a shake at Small Fryes located at 4225 Preston Fall City Rd SE, where they "specialize in grease, salt, sugar, and caffeine!"  You can also float or play on the shores of the river or drive to explore Snoqualmie Falls.

"We love Scott's Dairy Freeze in North Bend. It's such a nostalgic place and my littles love sitting with their swirl cones in the big red chairs and picnic tables outside overlooking our mountain. Their soft serve ice cream is on point too! And my hubby has a thing for the burgers!" - Jess Buttermore

If you're looking to indulge in a giant hamburger plus a root beer float or milkshake, try an Issaquah landmark, Triple XXX Root Beer Drive In! The atmosphere and car shows are obvious crowd-pleasers!

And you just can't go wrong with a refillable Root Beer Float from MOD Pizza - located in the Issaquah Highlands and in Sammamish near Safeway.

It's also worth mentioning a few "unexpected" places to get delicious frozen sweet treats ...

There is actually such a thing as a doughnut sundae.  Who knew?!

Costco Food Court | 1801 10th Ave NW | Issaquah
While we really miss the hand-scooped waffle cones, the giant servings of frozen yogurt are enough to feed an entire family and keep kids happy while you shop.

If you're willing to go on an ice cream adventure, these places - according to our Facebook fans - are definitely WORTH THE DRIVE ...

Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream | 16272 Cleveland St | Redmond
For me Molly Moon's is worth the drive for the unique flavors, quality ingredients, homemade waffle cones, and the experience of sitting in an cream parlor. The people watching is fun too! - Jennifer McGill Walker

Molly Moons just opened in Redmond! They have really fun flavors. Mix Honey Lavender with their Salted Caramel. - Caryn Dilks

C.C. Espresso & Ice Creamery | 15525 Main St NE | Duvall
Maybe this is too far out of the way to be called local, but we were in Duvall today and went to C.C. Espresso & Ice Creamery. Their ice cream was good but the retro country store feel was even better. Very cute place. More locally, we frequent TCBY and Ben & Jerry's (perhaps too frequently). - Sarah Venzon

Nutty Squirrel Gelato | locations in Seattle and Maple Valley
Nutty Squirrel Gelato in Maple Valley is a must! Unique flavors some are seasonal and all made in store along with the waffle cones. Some of the flavors I've seen are Guinness, green tea, Samoas, lemon grisbi, tiramisu, amaretto, and my favorites are the lavender and pistachio. They also have a few dairy free options. You won't be disappointed. - Elizabeth Maceda

Seattle Pops | many area Farmers Markets including Issaquah
Seattle Pops from the Issaquah Farmers Market! They have amazing flavors and all are natural and delicious. Our faves include chocolate mint, chocolate banana, coconut cream, and very strawberry (with real fresh strawberries!). - Terri Hintz

D'ambrosia Gelato | Ballard
D'ambrosia Gelato. It's a gelato place in Ballard, sort of by Matador, that is amazing. Lines out the door. I make special trips for a fig flavored one, but I think it's a seasonal flavor. Sooooo good! - Laura Chilton

Mora Ice Creamery | Bainbridge Island
Mora on Bainbridge Island. All natural and wide variety. Also makes for a wonderful treat after walking on or riding the ferry from Seattle and visiting the children's museum down the street. - Shelly Bouse Ward

A fantastic ice cream day trip is to Mora's on Bainbridge Island. It's worth the trip just for the ice cream. It's probably the best ice cream I've ever had. - Barrie Rein Thunemann

If you manage to make your way through this list, perhaps you could give the kids a chance to make their very own Homemade Ice Cream in a Baggie!
