You’re Invited: Giving Tree Lighting

Festival of music features Issaquah, Renton & Newcastle choirs

November 5, 2018

You’re invited! Join the community at Giving Tree Lighting – a FREE event on Saturday, November 17 at Grand Ridge Plaza in Issaquah Highlands. Enjoy a festival of music, entertainment, and complimentary treats and sweets – and help six Eastside schools light the tree. The festivities are 4:30 to 6 pm. We’ll light the tree at 5:30 pm.

This magical evening celebrates the spirit of Thanksgiving and kicks off the holiday drive for the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank. Community members are invited to select a gift tag from the Giving Tree and make wishes come true by donating the item to families in need this holiday season.

The Giving Tree Lighting will feature the school choirs of Apollo Elementary (Renton), Briarwood Elementary (Renton), Clark Elementary (Issaquah), Maple Hills Elementary (Renton), Newcastle Elementary (Newcastle), and Maywood Middle School (Renton).

All ages event. All welcome!

How can I donate to the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank holiday drive? Select a gift tag from the Giving Tree or choose an item that you know kids love—something that’s a tried and true favorite. Gifts can vary in price and value; there’s no minimum value. Toys must be new and unwrapped.

Where can I drop off a donation? Donations can be dropped off inside Regal Cinemas Issaquah Highlands, where a big donation box will take center stage in the lobby.

Who receives donations? The holiday drive serves more than 1,500 children in the Issaquah School District. Families receive the toys and gifts at the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank’s Holiday Gift Barn. Every year, volunteers transform Pickering Barn into a huge toy store where families in need can choose gifts and stocking stuffers for their children. What is the deadline? Donations received during the first weeks of the holiday season – November 17 to December 4 – will go directly to the Holiday Gift Barn. Following December 4, the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank will ensure that donations reach local children in time for the holidays.

I didn’t get a tag. Can I still donate? Yes! Please choose a gift and drop it off at Regal Cinemas Issaquah Highlands. Popular gifts include board games (Monopoly, Battleship, etc.), card games, art supplies, puzzles, books, and scrapbooking supplies. For teens, gift ideas include curling irons, hair straighteners, makeup and hair products. Warm jackets and hoodies are also popular.

Thank you for supporting the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank. The community looks forward to welcoming you at the Giving Tree Lighting on November 17! To learn more, click here.
