ISSAQUAH, Wash., March 26, 2021– Historically Hip Downtown Issaquah is turning its endeavors to Spring – specifically the annual Flowers on Front, Farm Fresh and Fresh Flower Markets, and Keep Issaquah Beautiful Day.
Every year the Issaquah community looks forward to these rites of Spring. Equinox is a beginning – and in Issaquah the season is a centerpiece of fresh produce, floral beauty, community involvement and love for Issaquah.
The Farm Fresh and Fresh Flower Markets featuring Ayala Farms run March 27-April 24, every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Historic Shell Station. Locals and visitors take advantage of the flower season and support local farmers. Keep Issaquah Beautiful Day is a city-wide clean up and beautification day on April 24th from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Rain or shine. Individuals, families, and groups are all welcome to help with trash pickup, vegetation maintenance, and flower planting. “Issaquah volunteers look forward to Spring every year,” said Christina Bruning, president of the Downtown Issaquah Association. “They come to get their hands dirty, beautify their hometown, and enjoy fresh air in a safe environment. On their way home, they stop for seasonal produce and flowers.”
Flowers on Front

Each year, the Downtown Issaquah Association campaigns for donations for the baskets and maintenance. People donate the spectacular blooms in honor of their mother for Mother’s Day, or another special person. Some do so just to drape their town in gorgeousness. Of course, the flower baskets could not flourish without committed volunteers. Last year, they hung and removed 50 baskets, which can weigh up to 100 pounds each!
“I would like to extend a special thanks to last year’s donors,” said Kim Christenson, Issaquah’s ambassador for Flowers on Front and a 27-year resident. For me, this is a good opportunity to give back to my beloved community and feel more connected. Last year was a challenging year, and when people see the flower baskets, there’s a smile on their faces.”
At $50 or more, donors may request a card for a loved one conveying that the basket is hung in their honor. Donations need to be in by May 1, in time for Mother’s Day. Donations are tax deductible.
