Lots to Celebrate at Flying Pie Pizzeria Issaquah this month!

April 16, 2022

25 years ago, April 21, 1997: Flying Pie Pizzeria first opened its doors in Issaquah, WA.

We were humbled immediately by the group of community volunteers who were cleaning up Issaquah in the rain! We invited them in and shared our pizza to warm their bellies and they forever warmed our hearts with the community spirit of Issaquah!

We’re also celebrating the transition of Flying Pie Pizzeria ownership to Karla Zarate and her partner Sergio (Cruz) Castillo! Over 18 years ago, Karla came by and asked for a job! We weren’t very busy at the time but after multiple attempts, we were busy one day and Katheryn said; “Come on in!” and handed her an apron. Karla quickly got to work bussing tables and doing dishes. Karla eventually learned every position in the place. First, how to prep the ingredients and assemble the pies. Eventually, learning the hefty role of running the oven. More recently, Karla has been learning the ins and outs of running a pizza business! As the General Manager, she took over important jobs like inventory, vendor partnerships, staffing, scheduling and all the other things that come along with running a restaurant. When Katheryn decided to retire from the pizza business that has been an integral part of her and her family’s life since she was 5 years old, the obvious successor was Karla. We’re so proud and excited to make this announcement to our amazing community.

Thank you for your continued support until now and going forward. Katheryn and her family will continue to be the Flying Pie’s biggest fans and we have every confidence that Karla and Cruz are the best candidates to carry on the Flying Pie Pizzeria tradition and partnership with this community.

Cheers, Eat. More. Pizza. Katheryn Parker & Family
