In the year 1898, Charles Baker came to the Snoqualmie Valley, succumbed to its beauty and potential, and created a vision that would result in the construction of the world's first underground hydroelectric plant. Any person can become a witness to this amazing feat through the new Snoqualmie Falls Hydroelectric Museum. Open throughout the summer until Labor Day, this enlightening museum will provide information regarding the falls, the development of hydroelectric power in the area, and the fascinating life of Charles Baker. The exhibit is free to the public and is available to tour Wednesday through Sunday during the hours of 10am-4pm. Engineers, historians, and families alike will be engrossed by all that the museum has to offer, for the world's first hydroelectric underground power plant is truly magnificent.
