Chef Kristen Schumacher's Irish Soda Bread

This recipe is kid-friendly and just in time for St. Patty's Day!

top image

Chef Kristen Schumacher's Whole Wheat Irish Soda Bread

3 1/4 cups whole wheat flour (plus extra for kneading)
1 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp sugar
1 1/2 cups buttermilk

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. Make a well in the center, pour in buttermilk. Mix well and pour onto floured board. Knead together and form into a flat sphere, about 2 inches high and slice a cross on the top. Put on ungreased sheet pan and bake for 40 minutes. Serve warm.

This recipe comes from local Snoqualmie Chef Kristen Schumacher.  Thanks Kristen!
