Math athletes can exercise their minds and win prizes at the TriMathlon, held nationwide and at the Issaquah Mathnasium on May 14.
Registration for the math day began on Pi Day, March 14 and continues through April 30.
Students in third through sixth grades can register for FREE either online or at the Issaquah Mathnasium.
The TriMathlon event focuses on the foundations of the Mathnasium Method and Number Sense:
- Counting
- Wholes and Parts
- Proportional Thinking
“Math is really fun,” Issaquah Mathnasium Center Director Sumitha Reddy said. “We want kids to know how many ways you can enjoy math.”
National TriMathlon winners will be chosen from the top three scores from all participating Mathnasium locations; a total of 12 winners will be selected and will receive honors and more than $10,000 in cash prizes. Each grade level will have a first-, second- and third-place winner receiving prizes of $100, $75 and $50, respectively at local level, to Amazon.com. As an added bonus, students who place can win free tutoring sessions at the Issaquah Mathnasium, with first place getting eight classes, second place receiving six classes and third place collecting four classes.
Along with medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place local winners at each participating center, all students will receive a certificate of achievement for their involvement. Every child who participates will receive a certificate of achievement and a free goody bag.
“Mathnasium’s National TriMathlon Day is an ideal opportunity for us to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of math students in these grade levels,” Reddy said. “Each challenge tests a different facet of students’ analytical and computational abilities.”
