THIS WEEKEND: Parkadilly, kids’ concert, fair & fun

Head to Lake Sammamish State Park for a delightful dose of FREE Family Fun!

July 21, 2016
Parkadilly at Lake Sammamish kid’s concert, fair & fun will introduce children and their grown-ups to a wide variety of outdoor activities.

Parkadilly is coming to Lake Sammamish State Park, noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 24.

The youngest children will be able to participate in the YMCA’s outdoor obstacle course or listen to King County librarians share favorite storybooks. With parent help, kids can also navigate Eastside Audubon’s nature scavenger hunt.

Kids ages 6 to 10 will be able to earn their Junior Ranger badge after exploring the wild and wonderful world of nature. Be prepared to get dirty and have fun while learning about the plants, animals, insects, amphibians and birds that live in the park! Parents are welcome to accompany their children. And don’t miss REI’s wilderness survival workshop for kids, offered at 2 or 3 p.m.

If kids enjoy sports, they will certainly want to jump on the Springfree trampoline, or try their hand at track and field events including a baton relay, whiffle ball throw and turbo javelin toss. For a quieter activity, join artEAST for print making and easel painting.

PCC’s TasteMobile will be at Parkadilly, allowing kids to sample healthy treats. And the Kiwanis Club of Issaquah will sell grilled hot dogs, ice cream and other treats.

But the main attraction will be on the center stage with guest host - local dad - Chris Cashman as emcee. The audience can learn a few Bollywood dance moves and how to beat box, then join acrobatic yoga instructors Jordan and Antonella in an All-in Simon Says.

You definitely won't want to miss live back-to-back performances by children’s entertainers Recess Monkey, Eli Rosenblatt and Mikey Mike. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and stay awhile!

1:30 Eli Rosenblatt — salsa, swing, samba and hip hop!

2:30 Recess Monkey — school teachers turned rockers!

3:30 Mikey Mike — the rad scientist!

Kid-centric vendors will also be on hand, giving parents an opportunity to learn about schools, after-school activities, health care, children’s products, and local non-profits.

Parkadilly is a community celebration hosted by Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park. All proceeds from the event will benefit the $1.1 million all-access destination playground currently under construction. The playground is expected to open in September.

Parkadilly is a free event, although park admission is $10/car or with annual Discover Pass.

Sponsors of Parkadilly include Windermere East, Virginia Mason Issaquah, Highlands Kids Dentistry and the Issaquah Arts Commission.
