Get Your Purge On - Local Places to Donate and Consign

January 4, 2018
The holidays are over, and in all likelihood your family has accumulated more stuff.  The best way to remedy that situation is to purge.  Go through closets and dressers.  Doesn't fit?  Don't love it?  You know how this works.  Get your kids involved and ask them to pass along toys they are finished playing with. It won't be long until you'll have boxes of stuff and maybe start feeling a bit overwhelmed!  To make the next step a little easier, we've compiled a list of local options to donate, consign, or sell.

PLACES TO DONATE

1) The first grade Daisy Girl Scout Troop from Creekside Elementary School in Sammamish is collecting gloves for Seattle's Union Gospel Mission Search & Rescue vans to distribute to the homeless during these cold winter months. Scout leader Andrea Smolin said the effort is part of the troop's effort to earn its Rosie Petal (to make the world a better place). You can drop off any new or gently used gloves to their donation bin in the YMCA/Sammamish Community and Aquatic Center from now until January 27.

Alternatively, if you'd like to donate new items for the needy, you can buy directly off their Amazon wish list (http://a.co/2eskg56).

2) Eastside Baby Corner makes a positive difference in the lives of children and families in need by collecting and purchasing children's items and distributing them, free of charge, through local social service agencies. Your donations go immediately to local families struggling with job loss, homelessness, medical crisis, and poverty. Bringing EBC the clothes, toys or furniture that your child has outgrown is an easy way to recycle and help a deserving child.
