Out & About: Sammamish Parks

June 28, 2012
There are plenty of spots to getaway on the Plateau!  In fact, Sammamish has some of my most favorite parks - each for a different reason!

Beaver Lake Park - We especially love the south side of the park where you'll find a nice play structure and covered pavillion - perfect spot for a craft playdate.  There is also a dog park toward the back, and unpaved hiking paths connect the north (where you'll find the lake and lodge) and south sides of the park.
  • Restrooms:  Nice facilities with flush toilets, nearby the play area
  • Shade: no shade on the play area, but the pavilion is right next to it
  • Parking: plenty of spots and it's very close by

Ebright Creek Park - A relatively new park, with some of the coolest play equipment around!  It features two play areas, which meet the needs of both younger and older kids.  The picnic pavilion is a gigantic gazebo and perfect for serving lunch or snacks to a big crowd, plus there are plenty of other picnic tables surrounding the play area. My daughter especially love the walk over the wetland boardwalk and along the creek.
  • Restrooms:  Nice facilities with flush toilets, a bit of a walk from the play area
  • Shade: Plenty of trees but the play area gets a lot of sun mid-day
  • Distance from Parking: A bit of a walk, mainly flat; bring a stroller or wagon

Pine Lake Park has something for everyone!  Big fields to chase a ball or frisbee, baseball diamond with bleachers to climb, plenty of swings, two play structures, a place to race hot wheels, a rock wall, and of course, the lake where you can feed ducks, put your feet in the water, or dive right in!  Don't forget the concert in the park series here weekly in summer, too!
  • Restrooms: the toilets flush, and there's a shower
  • Shade: plenty of shade, but sunny spots, too
  • Parking: the lot can get crowded in the middle of summer

You simply cannot miss Dana's all-time favorite - Sammamish Commons {Spray} Park.  Located just behind the Sammamish Library, it's a fantastic park, in an amazing setting, with swings, a huge sandpit, and a cool {interactive} water feature.  I truly love this park and find it very surprising that it is never crowded when we go!
  • Restrooms:  Pit toilets, not my favorite but manageable
  • Shade: Very little shade here; one covered picnic area and a few small trees.
  • Distance from Parking: There is a long walk.  Bring a stroller or wagon.  The return trip (when kids are likely to be tired and grumpy) is uphill.
