Educational Research - The SAT Math Tests

There are three different SAT tests which include math.  There is the SAT I, which includes math, verbal, and writing. The other SAT tests in mathematics are grouped under the SAT Subject Tests or SAT II.  The Subject Test for math has two levels. One test is for students who have taken math through Algebra 2 and Geometry, and the other is for students who have completed math through Trigonometry and Pre-calculus.**

Math SAT II Level 1*

Algebra (30%)

Plane Geometry (20%)

Coordinate Geometry (12%)

3D (Solid) Geometry (6%)

Trigonometry (8%)

Functions (12%)

Statistics (6%)

Miscellaneous (6%)

Math SAT II Level 2*

Algebra (18%)

Plane Geometry (0%)

Coordinate Geometry (12%)

3D (Solid) Geometry (8%)

Trigonometry (20%)

Functions (24%)

Statistics (6%)

Miscellaneous (12%)

The Kumon Math Program is highly beneficial in preparing for the SAT.  If a student completes Math Level J, he is well prepared for the SAT I math test. If a student reaches Level K in the Kumon program (Algebra 2), he should be well-prepared for the SAT II Level 1 test. For the SAT II Level 2 test, on the other hand, since it includes more trigonometry and pre-calculus concepts, a student would greatly benefit by going through Kumon Math Levels K through O. The Kumon math program is an excellent supplemental learning program to prepare students the SAT math tests.
