If you haven’t been to Suncadia, you are really missing out!

Last week my family, and several of our friends, headed over to Suncadia to celebrate Thanksgiving and enjoy their Winterfest activities.  Winterfest is Suncadia’s annual holiday festival, and it’s truly a wonderful family event.

Winterfest has something for everyone…literally!  Ice skating, inner tubing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobile tours, frozen disc golf, tree lighting celebrations, game nights, santa workshops…honestly the list goes on and on.  Here is the full schedule of events.

We spent two nights enjoying some of the Winterfest fun!  There was tons of snow, so the first night we took the kids sledding!  We all had so much fun, and it was great to see them smile from ear to ear.

On Friday we dropped the kids off at CampCadia for an afternoon of playing in the snow, making arts & crafts, and fun “kid time”.   The adults headed off to the new winery, Swiftwater Cellars, for wine tasting and lunch.  The wine and food were out of this world, and even if you don’t want to drop your kids off at camp, you can bring them to Swiftwater.

After enjoying some delicious wine and food, we were off to the Glade Springs Spa to be pampered.  The hot mineral pools helped melt away any stress that we might have had.  We spent several hours relaxing before heading to dinner at Portals.

That evening, by the fire, the kids enjoyed Jack Frost story time, in the main lodge.  To finish the evening off, the kids were tucked in by Sparkle the Elf.   Santa’s little helpers come visit your room and add to the magic of the holidays by reading to your children and giving them a special present (hot chocolate, crayons and a cup they can decorate).  Yes, the elf tuck-in could be the cutest thing EVER!  You have to do this when you visit.

Saturday morning, with snow on the ground, and the sun shining, we enjoyed another amazing meal at Portals, and then took the kids ice skating.  You don’t have to be an expert on skates to enjoy gliding across the ice.  They even have special stability bars to help the kids master ice skating!  And even if skating isn’t for you…sit by the fire and enjoy hot chocolate and smores.

I also want to point out that not only is Suncadia known for their Winterfest fun, the staff could be the best you will ever encounter.  They help make your vacation something you will never forget.
