Students who score high on standardized tests have attained basic math and reading skills as well as the intuitive ability to figure things out on their own.  This problem-solving capacity is indispensable for intellectual resourcefulness.  Furthermore, successful students are adept at persevering through even the most challenging questions.  Sustained daily study at Kumon stimulates students' minds and enhances their own processing abilities.  These factors are crucial in developing an active, sharp, imaginative mind capable scoring high on standardized tests.

Scoring high on standardized tests is simply a measure of how well your child is meeting and exceeding standards.  True academic excellence requires an instrument through which it may evolve.   Kumon study can be just that for any child.  Kumon provides a tangible, everyday means through which the child may excel.  Daily practice at the "just-right" level fosters good performance and a sense of accomplishment.  This promotes confidence and enthusiasm in the child's own ability to learn.  Kumon serves as a vehicle for the student's efforts and as a conduit to productively channel the student's energy.  Just as the concert pianist must practice for many years in order to acquire a refined artistic style, it takes time and effort for a student to fully develop creative potential.  The rewards of attaining an advanced level of academic development through long-term study are profound.

Students who have developed an independent study habit through the Kumon method are capable of much more than merely scoring high on standardized tests.  The abilities Kumon students possess are the qualities of creative and productive individuals. Kumon students are required to concentrate, stay on task and finish daily assignments within a set period of time.  They are enthusiastic, confident and hard-working individuals.  They possess the most important characteristics of a creative mind--discipline, diligence, and determination.  More important than scoring high on standardized tests, we want our children to develop the academic capability to build a successful future.
