40 Fun Fall Activities

Summer is over, the kids are back to school and all the summer activities have finished. BUT, we still need to keep our families busy! We have found so many fun fall activities in the area (and a little beyond) to share with you. We present you with... 40+ Fun Fall Activities!  Keep checking this list for new ideas, especially as we get closer to Halloween!!!

  1. Story Time at the Local Libraries - Issaquah Library, Sammamish Library, Snoqualmie Library, North Bend Library, and Fall City Library all have great storytime programs for ages 0-7 years old. Check out our event calendar and search for the library under “find events by category”.
  2. Stay busy with a list of LOCAL Halloween Happenings (this will be updated weekly)!
  3. Fall Crafting at Michael’s Arts & Crafts – Kid’s Club at Michael’s has craft make and take days every Saturday that feature themed crafts for the season. Check out the Kid’s Club schedule here, under upcoming events.
  4. Visit Remlinger FarmsRemlinger Farms has a lot going on in the fall; Toddler Weekdays, Family Fun Park on the weekends, and beginning September 23rd the Fall Harvest Pumpkin Festival (under upcoming events).
  5. Take a Trip – Fall is one of the best times to take a trip! The kids are back in school which means crowds are low and prices are low; win, win!   6. Ride a Train – The Northwest Railway Museum train is running train service every weekend through the end of October, including their Halloween Storytelling Train.  And don't forget the Santa Train in November and December (under upcoming events).  Tickets on Sale Now!
  7. Visit a Local Playground - You know here at Macaroni Kid we love a great playground, especially one that's close to home, has unique features and is fully accessible for all kids.  Here's a great list to pick from!
  8. Go to Issaquah Salmon Days - Salmon Days is an entire weekend (October 7 & 8) of something for everyone! It's a MUST! It's virtual this year! 
  9. Run a Race - Whether you're looking to support worthy causes, hoping to get some family-friendly exercise, or both, Macaroni Kid has your list of local races and walks.
  10. Go to a Pumpkin Patch!  See our up-to-date list of Pumpkin Patches here!
  11. Head to a Haunted House – Do you like a good fright? Then we have a few good haunted house around us that are waiting for you! (this will be updated weekly).
  12. Go to the Issaquah Goes Apples event on October 21st!
  13. Visit the Zoo – I love visiting the zoo in the fall. The days are cooler so the animals are more active, it is easier to walk around with the cooler weather, and there are less people visiting.  And we're lucky enough to have a zoo in our backyard: Cougar Mountain Zoo.
  14. Visit the Cedar River Watershed - The Cedar River Watershed Education Center is a regional education facility created as a gathering place to connect people with the source of their water.
  15. Learn About Where You Live - with FREE classes like Guided Tour of Meadowbrook Farm, Walk to Big Cedar, Town of Snoqualmie Falls Video and Discussion and Snoqualmie 101 are just a few of the classes offered in the Valley!
  16. Check out our Local Guide to the Arts - "Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time." Thomas Merton
  17. Go See Disney on Ice - Disney On Ice: Follow Your Heart is coming to Xfinity Arena November 9-12. Tickets on sale here.
  18. Stop by Your Local YMCA for Family Fun - Parent's Nights Out, Family Fun Nights, Lunch & Jump and Cultural Events, just to name a few things to do at the Sammamish YMCA and Snoqualmie Family YMCA.
  19. Create a Thankful Board – During the Thanksgiving season I love to take the opportunity to teach being grateful and thankful to my kids. We have done it many ways over the years. This is a great and easy way; Make A Family Thankful Board.
  20. Jump in Some Leaves – Rake up a big pile of leaves and just jump right in!
  21. Free State Park Days - Do a little planning, gas up the car, and go!  Free State Park Days are September 30, November 11 & 24.
  22. Collect Food – Collect food for the local food bank. It is that time of year when the food bank needs to start feeding families for Thanksgiving and Christmas and they need help providing the food. Clean out your pantry, ask your family, friends, neighbors, classmates, and see how much you can collect. 
  23. Si View Family Fun Days - Si View Harvest Festival (Oct. 21) and the Reptile Man Show (Nov. 17)

  25. Bounce, Jump & Play! – Get some of that never ending kid energy out by taking your kids to open jump one of the great places on our Indoor Fun: Places to Bounce, Jump, Play guide . They will have a blast and you have the option of jumping with them or taking some time to relax. 
  26. Get Scared at Night on a Dark Trail - The annual Snoqualmie Valley outdoor walkable spooky theatrical Halloween trail located on an old abandoned RV campground!  (October 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28)
  27. Bake Something with Pumpkin Spice – Pumpkin spice bread, pumpkin spice cookies, pumpkin spiced pancakes, pumpkin spiced scones, pumpkin spiced cupcakes. The possibilities are endless now a days and it makes your house smell wonderful!

  29. Have a Campfire – In your backyard, at your campsite, at your friend’s house. Campfires are always a great time! Roast marshmallows, make some S’mores, roast hot dogs for dinner.
  30. Get Lost in a Corn Maze – Be sure when you visit those pumpkin patches to go through the corn maze also. Let your child lead you through and there is a great chance you will get lost, at least for a short time.
  31. Fall Crafts with Fall Leaves Fall leaf candle jar and a Fall tree sun catcher.
  32. Attend a Local High School Football Game - Support your local high school and have some fun while doing it!
  33. Leavenworth Oktoberfest - Hop over to Leavenworth and enjoy their Oktoberfest events!
  34. Road Trip to see the Changing Leaves – Just driving down 202 will give you an incredible view of fall’s beautiful colors, but why not be a bit more adventurous? Head up over the mountains, over I-90 or Hwy 2, or head north up I-5. So many possibilities.
  35. Try Some New Flavors – Ice cream and frozen yogurt isn’t just for summer. It is good all year long!  And with the help of our Facebook audience, we've got the scoop on a grand total of 25 ice cream places you'll love to visit!
  36. Go see a Movie - We have two awesome theaters in our area: Regal Cinemas Issaquah Highlands or North Bend Theater. 
  37. Decorate for Halloween – Halloween just got easier with Free Printable Decorations and Activities.
  38. Go Out to Eat - With a list of places that Kids Eat FREE (or cheap) from Macaroni Kid!
  39. Get your Family Photos Taken –Stop putting it off.  Fall has some the best backgrounds and landscapes for outdoor family photos.
  40. Bake an Apple Pie – Find your favorite recipe, get into the kitchen with your kids, and have fun.
  41. Host a Family Game Night - What to do when the day-to-day running has you feeling like you are losing touch with your family? Call a family game night!
  42. Connect with Other Moms - Moms is all about moms being welcomed, informed and inspired in her community. Upcoming meetings are Oct. 17, Nov. 21 and Dec. 19.
